I just watched a video where some guy films his dad driving over his brothers (i assume) xbox games in a lawnmower while the brother is screaming and crying. The justification for this was get a job. I have a few conflicting opinions on this. -Granted becoming a professional gamer is a fairly ridiculous idea and getting a job to pay of his student loans (as mentioned in the video) would probably be a smart idea and in the long term, the dad doing this is likely to change the way the guy lives but that doesnt necessarily mean for the better. -Were taught as children to have hopes and dreams. The dad just ruined the hopes and dreams of his son and people are laughing at it. He stands pleading, crying and screaming in anguish as he watches his hopes and dreams being shredded in front of him by his dad and people are laughing at him. -What the dad did was an extremely severe way of helping his son but I dont think it was a bad thing as such. Theres little to learn from it, just a habit to lose. My problem with this is that people are laughing at the suffering of another human being. Someone told me that people should be left to live their lives however they want. I asked if its okay to leave someone with a bad heroin habit to rob his own grandmother to get his next fix, and hopefully shed some light on the problems with that idea. Provided people are happy and not harming anyone else and what they do isnt a detriment to themselves, they should be left to live their lives however they want. Never stop trying to help people but never rob them of their hopes and dreams when ultimately, its all we have to live for. Never lose empathy and compassion for other human beings.
