I just watched big trouble in little China and the golden child back to back. They were considered very similar and released the same year but big trouble tanked at the box office and the golden child was big. But ironically, big trouble is a far better film. The golden child is terrible and Eddie Murphy is not as talented as once thought. He can do axle Foley but Thats it. The whole movie is him doing stuff Thats sposeda be funny but isnt. But Because people are stupid, They made the inferior film the bigger hit. just because When Hollywood declares someone a star, the people believe it means something. Like a-list actor equals quality. In reality that is quite far from the truth. If I were a bigwig and saw the golden child, Id have dropped Murphy.
