I just witnessed the cutting down of several beautiful, old trees - TopicsExpress

I just witnessed the cutting down of several beautiful, old trees that shaded the top of Burchwood Ave and created a buffer between its residents and the traffic of Gallatin Road. The land is being cleared to build another set of those new housing properties that we are all growing more and more familiar with- this time I think I heard they were planning three to four units on the one lot. While I know the trees technically belong to the owners of the land, I feel that in a much greater way they belong to the residents surrounding them, and all of the future residents to come. These trees are as rich in age as some of the historic homes over on this side, and to see them ripped down as a part of this new housing movement makes me so sad and angry. Such short-sightedness and a disservice to our community and its people. Now, not only will these homes tower over those neighboring them, but they will also be completely bare for all eyes to see. Im frustrated that there is nothing I know to do about the cutting down of these trees (which is partially why I am posting) but if anyone else feels the same way and is connected to someone with any power regarding this, I would love to see our beloved neighborhoods stay shady and green!
