I just woke up after a listless sleep, I still could not believe - TopicsExpress

I just woke up after a listless sleep, I still could not believe that Mitch McConnell is going to be the Majority Leader of the Senate and even though it was forecasted that the democrats will loose seats in the upper chamber, I frankly did not know that it would be by such a margin. In my state of Georgia, Michelle Nunn and Jason Carter lost their bids for the Senate and the Governors mansion respectively...I guessed the majority of people in my state have had their say and exercised their constitutional rights to vote and choose our leaders.Call it sour grapes if you may, but I did not expect the outright schalaking by the republicans and yes, I am sour about it.It seems that big money wins once again and the plutocrats have tightened their stranglehold on power. I am not going to blame president Obama for this loss, any rational person worth his or her salt, would have seen that despite the republican intransigence to work with him or reach across the aisle to work with the democratic minority in the House, we as a country have made huge gains in nearly every sector, the president has cut the deficit in half, Wall street is booming again and the economy is chugging along at a steady pace, but think about if the republicans had compromised and had not obstructed the presidents initatives, such as rebuilding our aging infrastructure, passing the job bill and implementing comprehensive immigration reform, just think about it, the whole country would have been heading in the right direction, but the republicans did not want to compromise with the president because they selfishly thought that he would get all the credit. The powers that be in the republican party Mitch McConnell included, plotted not to cooperate with the president even before he took the oath of office as president in 2008, and now this disingenuous individual has been rewarded for stalling the progress of this country. .....thats democracy I guess. It has also been alleged that the majority of people polled did not like the direction that president Obama was taking the country, again I have to scratch my head and shake it in wonderment....have these people been under a rock? dont they read the newspapers and magazines, watch the news on television about the obstructionism that was deliberately caused by the congressional republicans? When it all boils down to it, Senator Mary Landrieu says it best, theres a racial element (she was alluding to the south) that pervaded this election.....but in my estimation it goes for the country as a whole,it is a sad but ugly truth.
