I just woke up with one of my wild connect the dot thoughts…Why Hawthorne Avenue School? They have met the mark…exceeded it even! The building is old and much less attractive to a big charter like T.E.A.M., right? Could it be all that land? That vast stretch of land that now exists now that all of those homes have been leveled to the ground? The land that was once allocated to build a new public high school in Newarks south ward, now owned by the state of NJ? The very land that they use as a community garden that stretches two entire city blocks…oh, the possibilities, right? At first, I could not figure it out…I thought and thought, why Hawthorne Avenue School? They have made great progress under the leadership of Principal James of the once suspended administrators known as the Newark 7! Ive been told that Im a bit slow on the uptake, but Im not so much slow, as busy, but now, in the still of the night, it all makes perfect sense to me. T.E.A.M. Academy Schools…Shavars baby will have first dibs on all that land to expand their charter school empire here in Newark. They will most likely get The Playground Bullys blessing, as well. How diabolical! Hmmm…just the thoughts of a mad teacher in the wee-hours of the morning, I suppose? Never mind, its probably all that sugar I had before bed, right? Wrong…just plain wrong!
