I just wrote this blessing for all our Fathers. I will use this blessing this Sunday at worship. Thank you Dad. I love you and miss you. A Father’s Day Blessing This blessing is for fathers who held the hands of their wives during childbirth. This blessing is for all the fathers who held soft babies in their callous hands. This blessing is for our dads who have red, tired eyes who forgot to make sure the diaper is on tight at 3am. This blessing is for fathers who hold babies and children that are not their own. This blessing is for dads who loudly support their children at games and for those who hold their children when disappointment comes. This blessing is for those who have had to say goodbye to their own dad. This blessing is for our dads who fall to their knees beside their children’s grave. This blessing is for all our fathers who sat down with their children and explained all about making babies. And for all the fathers that turned to their wives for help. This blessing is for all single fathers who cook, do laundry, and homework for their children. This blessing is for fathers who teach their daughters and sons to stand tall. This blessing is for fathers who learned to tie pony tails and wrestle. This blessing is for fathers who can’t speak to their children. This blessing is for new fathers and for old fathers whose hands have grown tired and weak. This blessing is for fathers who teach their kids how to shave, how to change oil, or shoot a gun. This blessing is for strong fathers, vulnerable fathers, loving fathers, and fathers who struggle to be fathers. This blessing is for all us who strive to be faithful in our roles of being loving and caring with God’s children.
