I just wrote this response to a local media professional who wants to know if any of our imams in Dearborn have an anti-ISIS intervention program. Other journos on my Facebook & Twitter, take note: Mr....., Out of 7 million American Muslims, not even 20 have gone to join ISIS. Ahmad Jebril is on the fringes of our community. Even his emotive speeches do not directly call to people to join ISIS. Im saying all of that to say that the conversation about ISIS in our community is not viewed in the framework that many politicians & media professionals view it. There is not any anti-ISIS intervention going on here. The mainstream teachings of Islam & empowering our community to speak out against misguided foreign policy which helped give birth to ISIS suffices.
