I keep forgetting to get you all the results of my research study from this past semester, so here it is: In laymans terms, this says, that when asked, [should people diagnosed with a mental illness be forced into treatment], using a scale from 1-9 (1 being not at all, and 9 being absolute yes), those surveyed answered with overwhelmingly high scores (and depending on the diagnosis, scores were higher); therefore representing that they believe with high commitment that people diagnosed with a mental illness should be forced into treatment. I am happy to answer any questions. A paired sample t-test was used to compare the degree of severity of mental illness and the likelihood one would want to force the individual into treatment. There was a significant effect of mental illness severity (between Schizophrenia and a general mental illness) on likelihood of an individual wanting to force an individual into treatment t (42)= 3.786, p=.000. That is, the likelihood of an individual wanting to send another individual into treatment was greater when the individual had Schizophrenia (M=4.9302, SD=2.41420) compared to when the individual had a general mental illness (M=4.0233, SD=2.17659): see Figure 1. There was a significant effect of mental illness severity (between Schizophrenia and a Bipolar Disorder and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) on likelihood of an individual wanting to force an individual into treatment t (42)=2.657, p=.011. That is, the likelihood of an individual wanting to send another individual into treatment was greater when the individual had Schizophrenia (M=4.9302, SD=2.41420) compared to when the individual had Bipolar Disorder and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (M=4.3488, SD=2.21342): see Figure 2
