I keep getting posts about shopping locally and supporting only local merchants. At first blush this seems like a good idea. But upon analysis I discovered that the blush was the embarrassment of banality. It seems that all of my local establishments get their goods from non-local sources. This is a good thing because it opens up my choices. As it does for you. If we all only shopped locally we would be limited to only the items which are locally produced. Thanks to our global economy, a literal world of goods is available to me instead of just the few products that can be produced locally. What am I missing?
