I keep getting the same question, Where did you get gas and provisions. Answer: We had to carry our own supplies, I rebuilt my rear tailgate rack, to hold a 12V cooler as Rich my Co-dog is diabetic and had to have his medicine kept cold. but as we crisscrossed Alaska there were days off,( after all half the crew was union.)We were able to go to the nearest towns to stock up on food and gas and supplies. It was pretty easy the first half of the adventure, but once you get north of Fairbanks which is in about the middle of the state it was much harder. as there are just about no more towns. Check it out on a map almost nothing there. So I picked up a couple extra gas cans. At one time I had 53 gallons on board: 4 Jerry cans, my two under the seat tanks at 10 each, and and my rear tank at 13 gal. Even at 5 to 7 miles per gallon you can cover a lot of ground. The crew was not allowed to fraternize with the cast, or help us, but we could help ourselves. We managed to find a lot of leftovers after lunch on more than one occasion. (ssshush quite) My best trick was once on a TV time out, we were on a ridge and I managed to get cell phone reception, I called Tim back here at my shop. He then Figured out what Auto Parts Store at what junction I would be passing through in a week, and had a set of Monroe Spring overload shocks waiting for me as I passed through. One of my air shocks had blown, and I desperately needed to be able to carry all the extra crap, roughly 1000 lbs more than usual, with all our gear and and the cameraman, and his day pack, and camera and batteries. Tim was great, he looked up the air shock numbers I had, in my office file, then cross referenced them to the load levelers. But they turned out about 2 inches two long. Shit I nearly passed out trying to compress them enough to get them on even with the High lift jack all the way up. One of the Moose buggies also towed a small military trailer which they carried tents and food for the crew in, and also there was a medic riding in one of the moose buggies as well.
