I keep reading across the media, both traditional forms and social media, that the DNA revelations today suddenly throw into serious doubt the Tudor claim to the throne and by extension that of the current queen. Its almost as though there is a sudden realisation that the entire monarchy since 1485 has been founded on lies and half-truths. Its a sham they cry! What seems to be overlooked is that Henry Tudor claimed the throne by right of conquest. He was the king because he held the crown through military action endorsed by a coercive parliament. He was the king because he was the king. Might was his right. His claim to the crown through blood (and yes, we know his blood link was preposterously weak) was irrelevant then and irrelevant now. Its a non issue.
