I keep seeing conspiracy theory Conservative sites claiming that ISIS is poised on the border for a 9/11 strike. Some claim it will bombs, some chemical, some are implying that ISIS troops are going to march in and take border cities like ours. One even released a report today that US border patrol agents were fired on by a Mexican Military helicopter working with drug cartels, but of course there was no proof, no official report that I can find. I do not see credible sites who can offer some kind of proof that the average person can take seriously. That is not to say there is not a threat here. Obviously, I live on the border and with the approach of September 11th I want real information, real threat assessments. We are an entry point for the U.S. that has many areas of vulnerability. People who live in a neighborhood directly across from the border highway claimed that they saw large trucks cruising for hours in their neighborhood yesterday and called the police. They claim the police told them get your guns, have your neighbors get their guns. Get ready. How much of that is rumor and how much of that story was fueled by paranoia caused by rumor? All I can say is that the crazies in our nation are making harder for the rest of us to assess threats and survive. We need sane reporting. I am all for freedom of the press, but there should be consequences for people who blatantly and KNOWINGLY lie about situations that could endanger other citizens. These damn nut jobs are creating confusion and clogging the airways with so much crap, that the real authorities probably have a hard time figuring out what credible threats are coming through. If ISIS does commit a terror threat, how many people are going to get hurt because some stupid guy had to go online and try to push fear buttons on the public at large? What I know has been proven is that ISIS has captured jets, tanks, and other heavy artillery and those photos show equipment in Syria right now. What I need is a real assessment as to whether my family should call in sick and head out of town for the day on Thursday.
