I keep seeing posts about Laddies not allowing poppies to be sold in their bookies. Has anyone confirmed whether other bookies are allowing them to be sold in theirs? A racist spin has been put on it to blame non British customers but has anyone considered the fact that actually, as opposed to not wanting to upset these folk, the bookies are, instead, protecting their staff? Not because of racism but because of theft! Anything left out on a shop counter is subject to being nicked, and that is more true in a bookies than anywhere else! People are scum, regardless of what their race is, and if inclined will nick 50p if its available to be nicked. If someone did a bung with the poppy tin would the staff be expected to chase them down the streets to get it back? Lets face facts, although many people that frequent the bookies are nice folk, many of them are the dregs of society with zero morals and an interest only in getting their hands on what isnt actually theirs! Before slagging off a company for not allowing poppies to be sold in their place, at least find out why before slamming them into the ground (or slam them for actual valid reasons like promoting murder)!
