I keep seeing statuses about this so..... its time for an Alex rant! It may be different for other people, and thats just swell and dandy - the difference in opinion is what makes the world so... colorful. Blogging to me is not a job. I am not employed by anybody. No designer is paying my bills, no designer is making sure I have a roof over my head, and no designer is putting food on my table. For designers, I am a means to an end. Thats all bloggers are. We arent your friends (though in some cases this may not be true), and we arent a customer per se. We are a tool that you use to boost your own sales. In fact, it costs you nothing to give us your items, because by using us you in fact make more money. I am a designer too, so I know this. I am your walking billboard and advertisement, and happy to be such! Its a perk of the trade, and a trade is exactly what it is. We are bartering services. Its the same as it is for me in RL work. I represent a brand, and that brand supplies me with free goodies. If I stop representing the brand, I stop getting stuff. Its that simple. However - for the common masses: If I am sporting something in a blog post that isnt from a sponsor, it absolutely *IS* my prerogative as to whether or not that item gets shared. I am so tired of seeing people complain about bloggers who dont share every last detail. News flash: I blog because I LOVE to blog. I blog because it is a way for me to catalog what I am wearing so that I remember whats in my inventory. I blog because I like to inspire others, and I blog because I feel like it. I do NOT feel that it is my duty to give you every single detail unless a sponsor has given me the item. If I purchase it outright, then its my choice. For anyone who says if you arent willing to share it, then dont blog it, I say-- get a mind of your own. Take the time to shop and wander the grid. Take the time to discover things for yourself as I have, to be adventurous and uncover all the things SL has to offer. This is the same reason I dont post SLURLs. If I found it in search, then so can you. Its not hard. I refuse to hand-feed you and I dont think that makes me a bad person or a bad blogger. The search option is there for a reason. Use it, love it! I am irritated to no end with people who assume that if something doesnt get shared, its contraband. Listen, people. My shape has been copybotted more times than Id like to count. My outfit has been stolen right from under my nose while Im shopping in public to re-appear on a copybotters body (stupid of them to do). I have had my share of issues with content theft, but I will tell you what. It is because of those people that I sometimes feel like there are certain goodies that I just want to keep to myself for a while. Little gems, treasures that I discovered that I feel at least for the moment make me look a little more unique. It is hard sometimes to stand out in SL. I dont think it makes anyone a bad person if they want to keep something to themselves. Can we all stop being judge-y now, stop being people who are so greedy that they dismiss an entire blog and feel the need to post an entire status about bloggers because they cant find what they want when they want it?
