I keep seeing this getting shared, and I need to do my Debbie Downer rant: of COURSE the little boys wont slap the little girl! They dont KNOW her! And they think shes PRETTY! They want to DATE her! The vast vast vast majority of mens violence against women happens after they already know each other. I have yet to meet a woman whos been battered or raped whose assailant just assaulted her in the first five minutes that they met (other than when its stranger rape, which happens but is the exception). Theres grooming, and disappointment that shes not the doll they thought she was, and time, and reality, and finding out they cant really control her, and all kinds of things. The idea that this somehow shows anything at all is simply wrong. What if, when they were told to caress her, she pushed them away, or got angry, and THEN they were told to slap her? Ill bet the reaction would be different. What if she wasnt conventionally pretty? Or white? Or thin? I just dont see how this shows anything, except maybe that people wont usually assault strangers.
