I keep seeing video clips and news posts of many who are taking the ALS ice bucket challenge, but I wonder how far the challenge is being taking. The clips and posts only show the ice water being dumped, only a few are indicating the purpose-- only a few are indicating that there is still a donation being sent to ALS or another charity. I think there is fun in the water dumping and seeing how families are getting involved, but it saddens me also that even with the nominations there isnt a description of the purpose. Instead of just saying the ice bucket challenge, wouldnt it be better to give details as to why one is doing this? Or at least include the purpose and further information? There are two stories out there-- each time water is dumped, $10 is to be donated by that individual, without water being dumped, but nominated $100 is to be donated. The other story is that basically you either dump the ice or not-- if you do, you dont need to donate- if you dont, then you are supposed to donate $100. Both stories have a 34 hour deadline. See, it baffles me with all these posts that when nominated, no one even indicates where to send a donation. I saw somewhere that was was willing to donate but not to have water dumped- that would be great-- according to the rules, it would mean there would be a $100 donation. Yay! But then there was a continued discussion to say that having water dumped isnt so bad and ice water is just fine. Then, that would mean only $10 donation-- or if it was the latter story, no donation at all. Again I am baffled- if the real purpose to to raise money and awareness, why try to talk someone out of a donation? So-- I ask again, wouldnt it be better to give the reason and purpose for doing the challenge? Friends, I am not trying to offend anyone who has done the challenge and possibly you have donated-- I am just making a quick observation as my news feed seems to fill up from many across the nation, also from celebrities and other influential people. Yet the story remains the same- no information about ALS and no information to where a donation should be sent. I guess I just stood on a soap box for a short bit to give my personal opinion.
