I kinda want to spit nails today. Social media and technology has made threats and bullying amongst our kids very easy. Trenton ran injured yesterday (IT band issue thats crept up the night before his meet). Unfortunately, he took 2nd in his 800 and his 4x100 team also took 2nd. Hes bummed and took this very hard. His coach wanted to pull him from the 4x400, but he pressed on to a 2nd place finish. A runner from the 1st place team cut Trenton off and they were DQed. So by that, our team took 1st in that event. Trenton was still bummed because he was unable to run his best. So lets rub salt in the wounds Riverside. Lets send insulting texts to Trenton throughout the night from unknown phone numbers blaming him for f-ing up the meet. Lets continue to harass your teammate making him so thrilled to push through injuries to a better finish next time. Seriously? I am mean mama, but I have sat at EVERY meet cheering LOUDLY for EVERY kid. We teach how to rally our team. We discuss how to not kick them when their down. We pat each other on the back and say, You did great. Youll get em next time. Then we go and hide behind our devices and stab that same back. So, one kid taking 2nd place messes up the entire meet? Lets rethink this. Yep, Im going to social media to rant. I hope each Riverside kid or parent sees this. 2 of my kids in one week are subjected to this. The schools and coaches are handling the situations well. Its time for accountability from those doing the harassing. #unleashtheTank
