I knew I will be very sad but these messages are making me cry. I would like to share with you, my friends, that I have decided to close My Lovebites. It is a very difficult decision that I finally came to after a long time of thinking and after consulting numerous times with Sant. My dear Babe Sant Qiu has been totally supportive of everything I do and what I decide, and I am truly thankful for you! Below is an email that I started sending out early this morning. And since then, I have been receiving Whatsapp messages, phone calls, emails, PM on our Facebook page, and even walk-ins from our regulars. I am so touched by all the messages are still coming in. Sant and I are also extremely grateful and thankful to you, our dear friends, who have supported us by your purchase, your recommendations and most of all, your encouragement and support for My Lovebites. Thank you. ============= Dear Lovebitten, This is the most difficult email I have ever had to write to you. And even after many hours of writing and revisions in “penning” down my thoughts, it is still an emotional experience in writing and sending out this email. I am sad to say that after a lot of thought and consideration, we have decided to close My Lovebites after nearly 3 years of wonderful operations. We will cease our retail operations on 20th Sept, 2014 (Saturday). Why We Are Ceasing Operations Time flies and before we knew it, we had spent the past 3 years of our lives building and growing My Lovebites. Among the many things that we have been blessed with is the relationship with our landlord. We have an awesome landlord who has been extremely gracious to us. So we are not closing because of rental issues. We have also received so much love and support from regular Lovebitten like yourself that we enjoy serving all of our customers. This reminds me of something one of my business friends used to share during his public speeches. To encourage his audience to be daring in sales and handle rejection, he would tell them this, “Don’t worry about nasty people. There are actually only 5 of them in this whole world. The only reason you keep meeting them is because they like to move around a lot!” Well, we are glad we have not met any of “these” people in our years of business! :) In the past almost 3 years, we have continually doubled our sales. So we are not closing because of profitability concerns. We are ceasing operations because we have decided to take time to focus on our family. As we have experienced in the past few years, working on and growing the business takes a lot of time and effort. And since we have recently been thinking about some of our priorities in life, in particular our desire to focus on family matters, we searched for alternative ways that could help us maintain and grow the business without our heavy involvement. We met up with some people who were keen to become our business partners / manager / business development personnel but sadly things didn’t pan out. Perhaps it is because we are committed to a certain standard in delivering our products and brand that we want to ensure that whoever we work with is also as committed and dedicated as us in producing quality products and service. So it is with a heavy heart and many sleepless nights that we came to this difficult decision. It is really one of the most difficult decisions I have had to make because I have invested so much of myself and my ideas into this business. But most of all, I feel an impending sense of loss for the many interactions that we will be missing out on with you. In spite of the short 2 plus years that we have been serving you cookies, we have rejoiced with customers who have gotten married (and with some customers, to them having babies), celebrated numerous special events in their lives such a birthdays, wedding anniversaries and other momentous life events like switching jobs! We feel like we have become friends, and indeed we are honoured that many of you do treat us like one when you feel comfortable enough to engage our help in creating special and unique gifts for your loved ones and families. And to those of you who buy us gifts from your travels overseas or even from nearby food places when visiting our shop, we are touched speechless by your thoughtful and generous spirit. YOU are the reason why I enjoy creating new cookie flavours and serving in retail. A business and brand is only as strong as the support of its customers and YOU are the strongest support a business could ever hope to get. We have been overwhelmingly blessed by you. It has been a truly wonderful and sweet experience serving you over the years. Thank you for the beautiful memories and for being such great customers. We really mean it when we say that My Lovebites has the best customers ever.
