I knew Peik mostly through his brother Tage Larsen and mutual friends until about 12 years ago when he called me to talk about Cambridge and my desire to enter Cambridge politics. He wanted to help. We met for a drink and talked. He was so nice, so genuine, so interested in what I had to say. I walked away from that meeting thinking in my political, Northeast, cynical mind: is he for real? No one is that nice. He must want something. Im happy to say that it didnt take me long to realize that Peik was for real. He was special. He didnt want anything other than to help another Cambridge kid succeed. We called on eachother often over the past 10 years. Usually to talk about Cambridge, education or football. Most recently about being new fathers to twins. Peik was one of the good ones. There will be a hole in our community. I hope we can learn from his example and be just a bit nicer, funnier and sincere.
