I knew that we dumped a lot of water on this fire, but I had no idea how much. Wow! As reported by KCCR News: An estimated 3 1/2 million gallons of city water were dumped on the fire that blazed through the Capitol Inn and Suites Tuesday night. City Utilities Division Director Brad Palmer says despite the need for water, there was never any other water shortage. Palmer says the city’s utilities crews were able to put additional city wells on line to meet the demands elsewhere in the city. Water was used throughout the night and into the morning to douse the blaze and then eliminate any hot spots.
