I know David Gilmour a very little—and even less now that the restaurant, where we occasionally had a little chat, has closed. I don’t think we have a lot in common. But, when I heard his comments about male and female writers, I thought, “Good for you.” I wasn’t offended in the least, even though I don’t exactly agree with his point of view. So what? He’s David Gilmour and I’m not. As someone said, “What’s the opposite of diversity? . . . university.” The PC straitjacket as well as the bullying, shaming, and shunning of those who have their own ideas about this and that are distasteful, to say the least.
