I know Edge of Tomorrow has been out for a few weeks now but because of a few inconveniently scheduled appointments I had to wait until this week to watch it, well rather late than never. Edge of tomorrow takes place in the not too distant future where aliens have invaded earth and are pretty much destroying the human race, Tom Cruises character Bill Cage, is forced into storming the beaches of France and fight impossible hordes of aliens. The twist in the story is that Cage has the power to restart the day whenever he dies. The first thing I would like to talk about is, the designs of the mech suits and the aliens in the movie, the mech suits were really cool, and the aliens were scary, they kind of twitched when ever they moved and dashed around from place to place really fast they were fast, deadly and fierce. The aliens and the aliens and the world built in the movie was really interesting, but the main goal in the movie was disappointingly generic it was pretty much a basic Alien invasion plot, but the execution is what makes it different from the rest. The movie gets really intense in a lot of scenes, and the characters were well written enough to make you actually care about the characters. Emily Blunt and Tom Cruise worked well together in the film and their relationship helps to keep the movie interesting even when it slows down a bit. The concept of the day resetting is really interesting and is used well in this movie it is cool to see Cage start off as this clueless weakling and become more and more badass as he repeats the same day. Also it was amusing to see atom Cruise die multiple times in one movie, some of his deaths were gruesome but the film makers also through in a few that were (shamefully) laugh out loud funny. Overall Edge of Tomorrow had a really cool premise, the film makers did a good job at throwing in enough twists to make the movie standout from other alien invasion movies . The movie had witty dialogue, great action sequences, interesting characters and it is a much more interesting take on a classic scenario. Edge of Tomorrow earns a..... 82%- you should go see it.
