I know I already posted a picture of my art space, but this one has some additions. My daughter, Rebecca, insisted vehemently that she was not an artist. Well, at her last semester at Samford, she stepped WAAAAY out of her comfort zone and signed up for a drawing class. The first class was quite intimidating. The instructor asked the class to just start drawing. Rebecca didnt even have the right equipment, and as she looked around at the rest of the students drawing away...shading and highlighting with their charcoal pencils and other artsy stuff.....she just knew this was not the class for her. At the end, she went up to the instructor and told him that she didnt think she was meant for the class, that everyone there seemed to have prior art experience and that she has no experience whatsoever. The instructor promised that this would be a perfect class for her. So, she purchased some art supplies and put a LOT of time into her assignments. She received some good grades, some average grades and even a number of Fs on her drawings. She was mostly discouraged the whole way through, but didnt give up. What you see hanging all around my art space are her drawings from that class. I cant think of anything more inspiring than to surround myself with the work of someone who just doesnt give up.
