I know I am not alone when I say that there are times it almost feels like we never see our first responder! ! I mean between shifts, side jobs, or when duty calls for some of you, depending on what line of duty your spouse is in, it can seem as if we NEVER see them!!! Ok, here it goes... When times like these happen, we must remember quickly that instead of seeing it as never seeing them, how about we see it as treasured time spent when they are with us. Change perspective. My officer works a side job 2 nights in a row giving us a total of one hour with him on those 2 days. Doesnt sound like much right? But what I have learned is that the hour is not for unloading my mess, not for criticism, not for social media, not for anything else other than him and taking full advantage of the time I have. Tonight, I got home and as much as I wanted to just go to bed, I just sat on the couch next to him and we just hugged as we watched the news. Hardly any words spoken but just being together. I encourage you to just be with your spouse when you can. Take it as treasure. Make it a time that you anticipate and prepare for. :) Know that holding hands without words speaks volumes. And if conversation is to be had, speak encouragement and love. We may not have our husbands all the time but when we do, lets be sure to make it count. ;) -Allison
