I know I have been gone for some time.....but hey! At times one has to disappear for a while and take time to oil his machinery. We are travelling a very bumpy, pothole infested road therefore one deserve a break to get all checked and given an okay tick. Get the heads up though! All projects that we started this year are going on well. Soon the Mogobane project will be equipped, fence extended to cover the land that was recently given to the Mogobane Committee for the disabled by the land board and most probably started production. I have my fingers crossed that when we go for Christmas break they should be fish in those ponds, vegetables will be green and appetizing and definitely bees will be producing honey …yes honey….. South East Sports Association has the plans for the bigger ablution block ready, quotation for sports courts are here and we just have to source for funds. If all goes according to plan, by this time next year our small community rehabilitation centre should be up and running. I know that means sleepless nights of proposal writing and a lot of disappointments along the way….but who said all will be easy. I never had it easy so bring on the challenges, disappointments and pains I am ready to face every bit of it and come out the other side even much stronger. Disability Professionals Botswana….hahahaaa where are this guys? The Organization has been taking a nap, but its waking up to the challenges now. The annual general meeting will be held sometimes in October, a fully fledged committee will be elected and few policy documents will be approved. Then hollaaa! All will simple full in place. Sports for people with disability…..Mmmmm. we still have a lot of challenges here. Did you just ask if we will be able to send a team to Brazil come 2016 for Paralympics….My answer is….not to confident about that. We still do not have a clear road map of where we want to go as a nation, we do not have an athlete development program as yet and if we are to compete it will be due to the exceptionally talent of one or two athletes that we do not even know if we have them. But hey…it is not all gloomy, dark and scary. We still have the next two years to work hard and anything can happen. They say, never say never! I am checking out….Ooops before I do that….The UN agencies in Southern Africa have friendly games coming this Friday August 9 and our 7 – aside football team for athletes with intellectual disabilities and our wheelchair basketball team will be taking the UN team head on. Come join us and have fun. Love you all xoxoxoxoxo!!
