I know I havent really gotten back to you all about club - TopicsExpress

I know I havent really gotten back to you all about club officiation, cause I thought I wasnt gonna be too busy to get all this info, but heres what needs to happen. As I said before, the university would need to see that parkour is a discipline that is as worthy of recognition as any other. Evidence for this exists: orgs like PkGen and Apex do much for that, but we need to compile a certain list of materials for this. First, a list of coaching certifications needs to happen. ADAPT is a must to include, but we can go for pretty much anything. Second, we need someone to find construction standards/regulations for parkour equipment. I think Parkour UK has them, so thats a place to start. Third, we need a list of schools that have a parkour club operating on campus, and we need to know what form the club takes (for example, we have here Sports clubs and Interest clubs). Fourth, it would be useful to get a list of parkour gyms/orgs/governing bodies around the nation and around the world. Fifth is a compilation of injury reports from other parkour clubs, and the other sports in those respective schools; they would need to be compiled in a neat statistical package. The point would be to prove that statistically speaking, parkour is actually safer than most other sports activities at any school. Last issue: a change in direction might be in order. We wanted to go for sports club at first mainly because those in charge of interest clubs turned us down before, referring us to sports club. The benefits of being under Rutgers REc, having a budget and access to facilities, are actually marginal to the costs, we would actually have to collect money, they would seek to limit what we can teach with official trainings, and we are expected to represent RU in competitions.
