I know I wound down my posting on Gaza (and everything else) here, - TopicsExpress

I know I wound down my posting on Gaza (and everything else) here, but Im going to go ahead and share part of an exchange I had today with an Israeli Settler (I must say it is rare that I find a Settler with whom I am able to even carry on a civil exchange at all). Maybe its just me, but I found this disturbing... Me: …when you look at the numbers overall, theres no comparison. Hamas is the existential threat some people need to justify the continuation of their own imperial dream. Every time I scratch someone who says the Arabs just want to kill us, I find someone who really wants a Jewish State from the River to the Sea. Settler: thank god thank god thank god there was no comparison in the number of deaths. ill say it again: thank god thank god thank god there was no comparison in the number of deaths. ill say it again: thank god thank god thank god there was no comparison in the number of deaths. Me: Translation: Thank God more Palestinians have died than Jews by a factor of 500:1. … Ill discuss again when you realize that Palestinians are human being[s] just like you. Settler: oh yeah the MB, they were great that year they were in power. how many chrisitians died in egypt that year? sorry, how many were killed? … of course they are people and as such i demand that they act as people and dont excuse them because of some claim from 1948 like you did. … thank god more jews havent died, that is what i feel. i really, but really, have no desire and get no pleasure when palestinians die (mainly. i had no regrets when rantissi was wasted). … again, if this is what reasonable people think, than i have no reason to take that into consideration. Me: 400 children dead and you thank God. No words. Settler: nope; 400 israeli children didnt die and i thank god. Me: And to me it would make NO difference if they were Israeli: 500 children are 500 children. Thats the difference between us. Settler: BS. you are the one who is claiming that the liters of blood spilled somehow proves who is the moral side. Me: I cant thank G** that 400 children died - whomever they are. And spilling liters of blood is not an unreasonable indicator of morality Settler: and yes, i care more when israelis die than when gazans die. Guilty … and since i never said thank god 400 children died i aint apologizing for that statement Me: You thanked God they werent Israeli. … You dont seem to understand that this is not a time to thank God. … At least were clear. To me theyre all children. I worry about the world when I meet people like you. Settler: peter i have no regrets rejecting the thoughts of someone who measures morality by liters of blood spilled, of someone who lets off hadas fogels murderer with a the jews started it claim, someone who gives palestinians a so called right not afforded to any other peoples. …
