I know Im back on Maui when Im coated in compost before breakfast. Its only day 2 and Im finding myself shocked that this life was once considered normal for me. There is certainly something wonderful about knowing I can make a dollar out of 15¢...or build a garden of Eden without tools or plants or a truck...but holy-moly...its exhausting. Today I am grateful that the signs have been coming in loud and clear...And the clarity I feel around this chapter coming to a space of completion for me. Im grateful that this morning... my man jumped right into the shit with me (literally) and unloaded huge truckloads of composted manure with me (when he could have been on the beach or in bed or playing)- and he did it without any grumbling or complaints... (Which makes a world of difference when it comes to a day of shit-shoveling:) Im grateful for the brilliant sunset that just enraptured me... It was the kind of sunset that make you pull off the road so you can swim in it a little longer. And as I watched the pink sky gather its angel winged clouds around me... I thought of Zack Moloney... And how he would have marveled in this day of being completely and utterly coated in compost and manure...and reeking of earth and life and all her cycles of brilliance. How he probably would have climbed the mound of manure with me and danced and sang about it all... And then I remembered that today I believe is his birthday... And so I sang Happy Birthday to the angel-swept-sky... And it all just got more and more brilliant.
