I know Ive already posted this 3 or 4 times over a few years but its Saturday morning. When I was a teenager Saturday mornings were all about westerns. At my house with my Dad or at the Massey residence with Richard and his Dad. Richards Dad used to call them the shoot em ups and my Dad used to guess that they were smokin wacky tabacky in those peace pipes. This morning Im watching Howard Hawks 1948 classic Red River and I notice that this song is one of the main themes in the movie (no words of course). Since Howard Hawks Produced Red River and Rio Bravo I guessed that he really liked the song to resurrect it 11 years later. Then I noticed that the beautiful Joanne Dru, who played the female lead in RR had this very earnest but hesitant delivery and I immediately flashed back to Angie Dickenson in RB, (after she threw the flower pot out the window) used an almost identical delivery. It was so similar that I have to believe Hawks had Dickenson watch Drus performance repeatedly. Im no film buff but I do get a kick out of Westerns. https://youtube/watch?v=edq0KYEwOZU
