I know Ive been posting a lot about whats happening in Ferguson. This is because its so important. The police are not above the law. They are not judge, jury and executioner. The unjust tradition of escalation and use of excessive force without accountability must stop, and it must stop now. This video is graphic. It shows the police shooting and killing Kajieme Powell. But I challenge you watch it. To not avert your eyes and pretend this is not happening on the streets of America, on camera, in broad daylight. You tell me if the level of force the police use here is warranted. Guns drawn immediately. From the time the two officers exit the vehicle, they take 12 seconds to assess the situation before unloading 12 deadly shots at a man who, while holding a knife, is not moving quickly or aggressively, and is never within 8 feet of them. Was there no other way to subdue this man? No alternative to lethal force? His big crime before they pulled up? He stole two big gulps and a honey bun from a convenience store.
