I know Ive been radio silent on here since Jim had his CT scan - TopicsExpress

I know Ive been radio silent on here since Jim had his CT scan last week. Honestly, we got preliminary results late Friday but the final read didnt come in until yesterday and that was followed by a volleying of emails between me and the oncologist. The scan showed that the three largest liver tumors that were targeted with ablation in May are still there but smaller. A PET scan will show if those tumors are dying or still active. The concern is whether there are new tumors in the right lung. Consensus is that we arent certain and that if there are, it was a minimal increase. Jim and I saw Dr. Mulkerin again at the UW Carbone Cancer Center today and discussed a number of things including whats next. We are nearly 17 months from diagnosis. We were a different couple sitting there today then who we were 17 months ago when we went to see him two weeks after the diagnosis for a second opinion. We are battle-tested now. The plan right now is to continue on FOLFIRI and Avastin tomorrow and scan in three rounds and when scans show progression of the cancer we should look for clinical trials unless a targeted therapy to the liver or lungs is needed. Its confusing, I know. I feel like Ive earned an M.D. in all this. I hate this waiting game but if it means hes here and stable right now, Ill take it.
