I know a bunch of you are about to head off to college for the first time, so I figured Id give what little advice I can! 1. Get a credit card. Preferably a secured card, but a normal one will work just as well. Now, youre probably thinking No, thats a really stupid idea. Why would I want to get myself in to debt? Here is the beauty of this. Use this credit card to pay for your Netflix or Hulu (or whatever) subscription every month. You know, something cheap. Then, you lose that card. Lock it up. Id suggest setting up an auto-payment from your bank account for the card so you wont need to worry about keeping up with it, just make sure youve got the money in your account to pay it. Doing this will build credit for you so youll actually HAVE credit when you need it. 2. Macaroni and cheese + Ramen noodles = delicious. So cheap, so good, so college.
