I know a young man who just finished high school in a neighboring village. A couple of days ago he fulfilled a dream visiting his familys village Iraq Almanshiya (Kiryat Gat). Beyond claims that the issue of refugees from the war of 1947+ is a problem or an issue cynically perpetuated it is clear that it is a human issue that can, and should be openly addressed. I heard this young man speak of his dream before he traveled (and of his future plan to help his aged grandfather visit the site of his old home). He was void of bitterness or hate... i could feel the soft longing in his voice- and the desire to see and breathe the air and the land. I hope to get permission to post a short video of his where he speaks of the sadness and joy that overcame him. May we be strong enough and free enough to be able to share these experiences without seeing them as existential threats. May sharing them be a bridge between us.
