I know alot of people that say to me Ive got so much to change before I can become a Christian and it is going to be so hard because I am so bad. You need to know that you cannot do it on your own. I used to think like that too. I would think how can I stop all the bad things I do when Ive been doing them my whole life, Its how I am now, Ive been like this forever!! BUT I didnt realise, just as many others dont realise, Their is NO WAY we can do it alone. If you honestly want to change and become a true christian, You can pray and ask God to send the Holy Spirit to live in you. You can do this alone. You dont need any help from any other person, like some people might try to make out. You are entitled to God just as much as anyone else. Just your honesty, prayer and faith in God is sufficiant enough. (Some People say you have to be Baptised to receive the Holy spirit but this is not true either. Yes.. Jesus says baptise all nations & Yes it may come to you easier through baptism but he does NOT say you must be baptised to enter the kingdom of heaven. Just like the Theif on the Cross that was crucified next to Our Saviour Jesus Christ. He wasnt baptised and Jesus assured him he would go to heaven with him on that day. All you really ever need is your Holy Bible (you cant take the word of man). Everyone should be baptised just as Jesus said but not being baptised yet dosnt mean you cannot receive the Holy Spirit first from our Lord. Who is man to say what Jesus can and cant do?. Jesus can do absolutely ANYTHING he wants to do. If your faith is strong you will receive the Holy Spirit straight away. But if not just pray for it a few extra times and God will see your dedication in wanting to change and become Christian and he will send the Holy Spirit to live in you. Now once youve received the Holy Spirit, Jesus will live in you and then it becomes a whole lot easier.(Way easier)! You will naturally start to think like Jesus. Sin will stand out in your mind so strongly. (Which will make it very easy to avoid). You may even realise some things are a sin that you never thought were. It will just come to you because Jesus resides within you. The more you pray the easier it will be. Once youve received the Holy Spirit, you will see, Its only up from their. A much easier walk to becoming righteous. If we didnt have the gift from God of accepting Jesus Christ as our Saviour (for our past sins) & receiving the Holy Spirit, we could NEVER do it on our own (with all the dirty temptations in this world)! Though you are filled with the Holy Spirit by faith and faith alone, it is important to recognize that several factors contribute to preparing your heart for the filling of the Spirit. Was it because of some great emotional pressure brought to bear upon you? Your emotions may have been involved. But ultimately, you became a Christian, not because of your emotional experience, but because of your faith. For the Bible says, It is by grace you have been saved, through faith. The Holy Spirit is not given to you that you might have a great emotional experience, but that you might live a holy life and be a fruitful witness for Christ. So, whether or not you have an emotional experience is not the issue. There is no place in Scripture where you are told to pray for the filling of the Holy Spirit. You are filled by faith. However, since the object of your faith is God and His Word, I suggest that you pray to Him claiming the fullness of His Spirit as an expression of your faith in Gods command and in His promise. Pray to be Filled with the Holy Spirit Right Now Have you met Gods conditions? Do you hunger and thirst after righteousness? Do you sincerely desire to be controlled and empowered by the Holy Spirit? If so, I invite you to bow your head and pray this prayer of faith right now. Expect God to fill you. Without begging or pleading, just say: Dear Father, I need You. I hunger and thirst for a more vital relationship with You. I admit that I have been in control of my life. As a result, I have sinned against You.
