I know alot of us who went to college ended up in New Brunswick. I found this piece on youtube while listening to the Asbury Jukes. I remember listening to the NY radio broadcast in 1976 on this one at friends house, which was as close as a 16 year old in Culvers Lake I was going to get - Asbury Park, the Stone Pony (our clothes and hair I do not even want to remember). I have heard over the years in various states comments on how bands from NJ just have something different, a different attitude, a special sound. Maybe it was the time period, but I think a big part of it is the work ethic, the goal, the commitment and the helping hand musicians in NJ gave each other that we just didnt see elsewhere. Or maybe it was us, the listeners, who provided the energy to make is something more in all those small bars we hung out in.
