I know it has been some time sense I last did a health update with all of my friends. I will not give you a line of crap excuses for not being on FB and will only say that for the most part I have been busy being a tourist, and just plain lazy. I do sometimes run out of energy and I have pain from the cancer but that is no excuse. So here it is in a nutshell. I sold my house in Fountain and I moved to Melbourne, Florida. We have been here two months and I am enjoying the beach and ocean and all the beautiful and wonderful things in Florida. It is truly a small piece of paradise. Unfortunately my health is taking a turn for the worse, and the cancer is active and spreading throughout my body. I just finished with my weekly Hospice Nurse visit. With yet another increase in my Morphine to 300 mg per day for pain, along with the other pain meds I am taking, and also an increase in my Lasix (removes fluid from my abdomen). The fluid build up in the abdomen is causing pressure on the tumor and liver, and caused the pain to become constant and not the sharp intermittent pain I was having. The Hospice Nurse and Doctor believe the cancer has metastasized to my brain and I am having lots of memory problems, Narcolepsy, and a permanent case of vertigo , difficulty with swallowing, and a bunch of other crap, and of course that is not good. The brain could forget to tell my lungs to breath, heart to beat, or other organs to function. Diagnosis once again is that "I am Dying", which could be in as little as a couple of months. Gee! where have I heard that one before? It was originally predicted that I would die in 12 months to 24 months. Now I have gone from 12 to 24 months to a couple of months. In November it will be one year since I found out I have terminal cancer and was told I would only survive 12 to 24 months. Now the goal is to try to make it till Christmas. I believe that I can make it to Christmas and longer. But things could go bad very quickly. So not much has really changed, I already knew I was dying sometime in the near future, barring a miracle. I am not going to stop going out and enjoying Florida or from enjoying life until the cancer makes that impossible. Walter Thew 719-432-9815
