In the Netherlands, untill 1990, there was no award for those who were wounded in action. In 1990 the government choose for a insignia instead of a medal like the Purple Heart. In the period 1991-1994 a committee issued more than 3500 insignias and certificates to those who were alive and were eligible. Wear insignia injured The Wounded Insignia is awarded to military personnel and veterans under conditions of war or peace operations have suffered physical or psychological injury. The Wounded Insignia for the military and veterans an important form of recognition for their military commitment and the sacrifices they have made. For assigning the Wounded Wear Insignia are strict rules, and its signed by the Minister of Defence. Obverse: the text Vulneratus nec Victus (Wounded, but not defeated). These are usually awarded by the mayor of the city where they live.en is a very emotional experience, a recognition for what they have done.
