I know it is easy to complain about tech support from companies like Comcast, but I have to say.. I just got off the phone with a great rep from Comcast. My combination cable modem/router has been acting up for the past two weeks. The woman I spoke with was friendly, tried everything she could on her end to fix the equipment but finally decided that it was bad and we need to swap equipment. That means shipping a new box to me which would take 5-6 days. We make small talk and she asks what I do for a living. I told her I have been in I.T. for 20 years and she gets silent. Then she says I have never spoken with a customer working in I.T. as humble as you. She told me that usually the I.T. people are the worst to deal with because they know it all and tell her how to do her job. She decides to eat the cost of priority shipping my equipment and now the new stuff will be here Saturday... I asked her if I could drop a line to her manager to let them know that she was a great rep, and she declined. She told me that just hearing a customer say something nice meant more than getting a kudos from her manager. Be nice to the people on the other end of the line... you never know what they are dealing with and how a simple thank you will make their day.
