I know it is hard to believe, but I am at a loss for words. Our dear friends, my family, church family, even folk we never met, everyone who prayed for us, brought food, thought of us, put your arms around us and held us as we cried. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I don‘t think we could have made it through this ordeal of losing our precious mother without you. It was a long haul for us, the doctors gave her two days after her last stroke with a brain bleed, and she held on for thirteen weeks. She wanted to go home, so my daughter, Krista moved in with her and did a wonderful job as her main caretaker. My sister Linda and I were there every day and many, many nights taking care of her, many hours, sitting by her side, just holding her hands, listening to her, living between two worlds and describing them so beautifully to us. This has been quite an earth shaking ordeal in our world. The dedications of songs were so comforting, the beautiful cards, visits, and phone calls were such a sweet reminder of how gracious God is to provide comfort at a time when our hearts are broken and, we can’t seem to find all the pieces to put them back together. Our mother was the most beautiful, sweetest perfect person I have ever met, and I’m not just saying this because she was mine and Linda’s mother. She set an example for so many people and was loved by hundreds she touched throughout her life. And she adopted so many into our family that Linda and I must have more brothers and sisters than anyone we know. We lost count long ago. I’ve seen my dad bring home as many as half a dozen people at a time who came, just to talk horses, without even a call or warning, and with a smile, my mother would welcome them into our home and make delicious meals with never a complaint, and was thrilled to do it. She loved having visitors, and treated everybody like family. In her own sweet way, she could correct you, scold you, and show you how much she loved you, all at the same time. As Brother Joel said during the service this morning, “then you would thank her after she finished with you, with a smile.” There will never be another person in this world like our mother; she was truly an angel God sent to walk among us and what an example her life has been for so many. She loved God, her church, her family, and everyone she met. From our entire family, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for praying for us, just knowing there were so many loving thoughts helped us get through these past weeks and the final send off for her to heaven and to my dad. God Bless You All.
