I know it is not a very good photo (even OF a photo) but this was in the afternoon in Pueblo, Co. with me sitting on the edge of the car, John in the drivers seat....August of 1985. I took him the Dallas paper that gave him a glowing review of his concert on July 20th, 1985. He had gone running before the concert and had not reset his watch to Central Time Zone and was just out too long. They had the Dallas Police out looking for him. The concert started 30 minutes late and he was most upset. I wanted him to see that he did get a great review. He had just shown me the inside of his beautiful Lear jet. It had just started to drizzle and you might know, a rain drop hit the lens right on his face....drat, but it is John. The next afternoon, we went to Johns concert at the Pueblo State Fair Grounds...we got to go backstage before the concert and visited watched some of the set up and sound-check...we got to do that because Doug Belcher, John road manager recognized us and let us in. I had a book, a childs biography of John that I wanted to see if John would sign and Doug took it in to John but John had not authorized the book and did not want to sign it. We .had to take a blanket to sit on as the ground was muddy. We were right down in front of the stage and John played to Amanda a lot and she laughed and danced all during the concert. After the concert, Doug let us come backstage again....John Vodooris (sp?) Johns stage manager, carried Amanda all around getting her to holler out that her favorite singer was John Denver!! He thought it very funny that a 2 year old would do that. Met Johns mother, Erma and the fellow she was dating at the time although I dont have a clue what his name was. Got to spend some time with John and he signed my program for me. We were backstage about 45 minutes....it was lots of fun. Then went back to the motel, and then collapsed. We left the next morning and drove back to east Texas....another straight 16 hour trip. Good thing Amanda was a good little traveler. I have a couple of more pictures from backstage to post.
