I know it’s Sunday, but, this had to be commented on. In the continuing saga of Barack vs. Bibi, Obama has now has warned of threats of revenge against Israel, an extremely reliable ally and fellow democracy. THREATS OF REVENGE. Sounds pretty damn ANGRY to me! With no follow-up press release denying it or tamping it down. Threats of revenge. Kinda’ sounds like a phrase Hitler might have used toward his sworn ENEMY Stalin, eh? In fact, I have never heard or read about a longtime, DEMOCRATIC ally using such belligerent language towards another in…history! The choice of that phrase elucidates Obama’s hatred of not merely Netanyahu, but, of Jews. (Hey, but Seth, can’t Obama – or anyone – have a disagreement with Israel or its leader, and NOT be an anti-semite?) OF COURSE! But… 1) Obama isn’t “anybody”. Words have meaning and the U.S. President’s words have global power and reach. The tone inherent in the phrase “threats of revenge” comport with the rising tone of anti-semitism in Europe. The U.S. President should be trying to use his influence to lower that tone. We know where that tone leads. Obama ratcheted it up. Knowingly. 2) Netanyahu is the leader of the Jewish State. The people of that State have voted to have him represent them. When you issue “threats of revenge” to the leader of a people, you are issuing it to IT’S PEOPLE. To deny that is to be asleep at the wheel. 3) Obama has, as president, polled very poorly in Israel, even amongst the Left, who he should have been a natural for. In short, the people of Israel, overwhelmingly and early on, do not trust him. In light of just this latest attack on their leader, they were right not too. 3) Imagine if Britain’s, David Cameron issued a “threat of revenge” against Obama for giving a speech (one stupid speech!). Wouldn’t that phrase prick up your ears? Wouldn’t you think, “Why is Cameron using such harsh, war-like words toward us?” You can be a big Obama supporter. All good. But, open your eyes to the phrase Obama CHOSE to use and not rescind. Especially if you’re Jewish! Peace.
