I know nothing about vehicles. Nothing. I can put gas in and possibly check the oil and thats it. When my Jeep makes a noise, I turn up the radio so I cant hear it. When its obvious my Jeep has a problem and I cant ignore it, I take it to the mechanic. Makes sense, right? I do not, however, tell the mechanic that he doesnt know what hes talking about when he tells me whats wrong with my Jeep. This is his job. He most definitely knows more than me. I may shop around to get estimates, but when I keep hearing different mechanics tell me the same thing, Im forced to admit theyre probably right. Okay. Lets apply this to Ebola. Now, Im just an RN. I happen to be pretty bright and Ive always been fascinated with infectious diseases, but at the end of the day theres not a lot of letters behind my name (yet). However, the medical community and public health officials have all stayed pretty consistently united. It *is* frustrating to be told we dont know much about this virus when we do, that it can do things it clearly cant, when it can spread it ways it would never be able to. Questioning what youre told to some degree is a good thing. Its a sign of intelligence. Refusing to believe what a preponderance of evidence says is true is not.
