I know of two things that made Dad proud of me. One of those things was my artistic ability and so one day when he was off to an auction sale, just before Fathers Day I grabbed some old cans of left over spray paint and a few old cans of left over house paint and I headed across the road to the old house he used to store his stationary engines and antique tools in. It had gotten painted but I didnt think a little mural on the west side would be a bad idea and I was pretty sure he would see it as he rounded the curve on his return home and I was pretty sure he would like it better than anything I could have bought at a store. Im not sure if he ever really said he liked it but I do sort of remember him telling me how many other people did as they slowed down while driving by to take a look. He wasnt big on compliments or praise but in his round about way, he usually found a way to say, ya done good.
