I know people may think I am wrong for saying this, but for me, - TopicsExpress

I know people may think I am wrong for saying this, but for me, Robin Williams did not have a mental illness. He was a genius and I am sure he realized long ago that if his brain didnt work the way it did, he couldnt do all the things we were entertained by. He was an artist, as an artist he was constantly trying to understand the human condition, the truths in which we live, and more importantly, the fallacies that dictate our norms. My guess is that he knew this pursuit of human understanding would mentally take him to places where others cannot go. However, he chose this path. He didnt need any medication or someone to lean a shoulder on, it was his journey and he made the best of it. In the end though, his journey took him to a dark hole he couldnt get out of, but again, I say he knew the risk. I believe he knew this could happen long before he ever made a joke in public. And who knows, if he hadnt become a comedian, he might have been institutionalized decades ago, forced to pop pills to make him numb, to abandon his gifts, to have died in a cold little cell, very much alone. It was obvious his extreme highs had to be accompanied by extreme lows, and while he was alive, we accepted that behavior as part of his art. We cannot change our tune in his passing. He was pure genius, and I much prefer to remember him as that.
