I know people who NEED cars because their children have special needs. Priority and subsidies should be given to such families as they have NO CHOICE. The rest of us do have the ability to choose btw public and private transportation- it is a WANT. With apps like gothere.sg, IRIS, google maps etc etc, travelling and negotiating the public transportation system has become easier. Hiccups do happen la when MRT trains or buses stall, but cars, traffic jams + difficulties locating a parking lot also happen when u own private transportation that can cause one to be delayed.
