I know some people will find this offensive, and for that I apologize--sort of...I am sorry it will pour salt in the wounds of warriors like Tom Robinson and Carla Coco...that it will bruise the sensitivities of the more gentle among us... but here goes: When I was stationed Down South, near the Hill Country of the Blue Ridge, I had the misfortune of encountering a KKK meeting in progress...when I, in my Northern naivete, asked the significance of the letters KKK of the shopkeeper who was hosting the meeting, A WOMAN ANSWERED LAUGHINGLY: KILL A KOON FOR KHRIST! OK? Nuff said? I left without making a purchase... I hate starting my week, my day out with this kind of vitriol, but Truth has no respect for timing... F*ck these people. F*ck Southern Gentility. F*ck Southern Charm, Southern Comfort... In particular, f*ck the people who deny that racism is not only alive and well, but center stage on the daily political and social circus. Sorry, but I have had it with trying to whitewash--no pun intended--the true agenda of these crackers...and now, because of the centuries of them doing this with absolute impunity, the disease has spread like wildfire to previously immune areas in this nation--although, I expect, it--like the Herpes virus--was always lying dormant, waiting for the signal to strike. In fact, this picture was taken in Marion, Indiana...hardly the Deep South...but it underscores my point, and just look at the heartland today... Please note with particular attention the grouping in the front lower left of the picture...the giddy debutantes, one reaching back to almost seductively touch the hand (or genitals) of her male escort...the old biddy wearing her FUR COLLAR COAT to the show... You should also know that this was part of a crowd of some 10,000 troglodytes who, with sledgehammers, broke down the jail to drag these men to the tree, and sang and danced while they died...and that this picture was made into a postcard shown with pride in Southern parlors for decades thereafter...
