I know that my dog isnt the most well behaved, well mannered pup in the world. But she sure knows how to be there when I need her. When the furnace ran out of fuel at about midnight last night, who was right there by my side cuddling with me to keep me warm? When I had to get up this morning and throw on 6 layers of clothes, then get to the store to get fuel, who was there to help me out by just being there? Who wakes up every single morning with a huge smile on their face just because they woke up again, beside me? Who sits on the floor in the hallway with me, never judging, just quietly sitting there with concern in her eyes, when I just get so frustrated that I have to break down for a few minutes and let it all go? A dog is able to give us so much love and they do it without questioning any of it. They are a very special gift to the world, that can understand when things go bad, and they stand beside us throughout the good and bad times, without judgment, without questioning what you are doing and why you are doing it. They never decide that they have had enough of things whenever they get hard. The love I see in Helens eyes is one of the few things that keeps me going in the world. She reminds me that all we really need to get by in this world is someone who can be there standing beside us, loving without limits, caring without question. It doesnt matter to them if you feel like a complete and utter failure at times, they are still there standing beside you and waiting for the next great adventure to come around. Thank-You so much Helen for putting up with the craziness that is our house, and for teaching me that life is an adventure, and we should always greet it with a smile, a hug and perhaps a giant slobbery kiss.
