I know that the recent police shooting, bomb threats and bank robberies in Salisbury are ongoing investigations with sensitive information, but theres something were not being told. And I have a nagging suspicion that these glaring omissions are the results of lazy journalism. Flip through our local news; youll find a more thorough and detailed report about a local high school basketball game than you will about these events that actually affect our safety. Most news agencies, both local and national, are guilty of copy-and-paste articles without fact-checking or, I dunno, whats the word, actual reporting. When we get a major event like this (in this case, three in one week), journalists should be on their A game, yet here we are, with no real information to go on. Yes, we get it, Event A happened at Location B, and Witness C heard a commotion. Quick, ask Man On The Street if he thinks crime is out of control. As someone who studied, worked in the field, and has a healthy respect for journalism/ENG, I am ashamed by news outlets and so-called journalists who are more concerned about their appearance at the State Fair than doing their actual job. Remember that you are always being told a skewered version of the truth that serves someones agenda.
