I know that today was my birthday. But it wasnt about me or my birthday today. It was about the woman you see in my profile picture. That beautiful butterfly you see is my mother. And for those who dont know she has been battling a critical illness since January. A nightmare that Ive been going through with her. Unfortunately we suffered a setback in efforts to win this battle. And after being in the hospital for a week, today I was able to take her home to continue our fight; the best birthday gift I couldve ever received. No, today there wasnt cake and ice cream. Or balloons and material gifts in bags and boxes wrapped in colorful paper. No turn up sessions and photos with cleverly captioned hashtags. However, there was a celebration--for my mom. No, today was not about me. It was about another chance to fight. Another opportunity to win. Another step towards a much bigger celebration. With that said I appreciate every phone call, every text message, every inbox message, every wish on my timeline that I received today. You all are all awesome! And to take the time out of your busy schedules to send me just a little love humbles me and is confirmation that Im truly blessed. And to that I say...
