I know the cold weather has everyone thinking about crisp, lite, refreshing fare, so it pains me to inform you that all we have to offer for the Seacoast Eat Local Winter Market in Rollinsford tomorrow are the makings for hearty, savory comfort foods. If, for some weird reason, warm and nourishing cuisine does sound appealing, I suppose you could manage to squeak by with one of our pasture-raised roasting chickens or a well-marbled grassfed ribeye. I know no ones thinking about meatloaf these days, so Ill probably end up going home with a lot of the pasture-raised ground pork and 90% lean grassfed ground beef I plan to bring. Im still trying to figure out this whole eat seasonally thing, so next year, Ill have to plan better to avoid having grassfed lamb at this time of year. I know Im looking forward to a gooey Shepherds Pie some humid July night! Just in case anyone wants to plan ahead for those sweltering evenings, I guess I could bring some ground lamb and lamb sausage tomorrow, too. Sigh...one of these years Ill get it right.
